I’m Sarah!
I love telling stories and discovery through making. Over the past decade, that curiosity has led me to explore design and production from many different angles, from product design and advanced manufacturing to craft practices around the world to development of biomaterials and tools that are digitizing the supply chain. Across all of these experiences, I've found myself returning to the same question: How do we build systems of design and production that are good for people, good for the planet, and also viable economically?
Today, I explore that question by developing frameworks, convening cross-sector communities through seminars and workshops, and working directly with organizations to bridge the gaps between innovation and implementation. I help startups with commercialization and product strategy, work with brands to decide the direction of and then implement their R&D efforts, as well as source materials and manufacturing partners, and advise investors on identifying emerging opportunities and markets, and get into the nitty gritty of what commercialization looks like.
My background includes building bioprinters, leading the 4D program with Carbon and Adidas, advising on bio-based material production and design opportunities for companies like Nike, developing digital product passports for apparels, and deep product research and development for creative powerhouses like Audrey Reilly. My work has been featured in major outlets, like Forbes, hypebeast, highsnobiety, Harpers Bazaar Arabia, and at the Olympics.
I also have a community-driven art practice, and have collaborated on large-scale art installations with artists like Hector Zamora, known for his roof installation at the Met, Assia Boundaoui and Yucef Merhi, Rob Woodcox and more. Much of this work centers on themes of duality, an ever present thread from many of my own life experiences, making the invisible visible and reclaiming narrative and identity.
